A man and a teenager have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in the head in Toxteth, Liverpool.

The attack occurred around 18:30 BST on Sunday on Lodge Lane, where the boy was walking near some shops, according to Merseyside Police. He suffered serious injuries as a result of the incident. Police have detained a 34-year-old man from Allerton and a 15-year-old boy from Toxteth, who are currently being questioned in custody.

Detectives are urgently seeking witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

The victim was transported to the hospital with a serious head injury that police believe was caused by a bladed weapon. He is currently in serious but stable condition.

The area near the junction with Coltart Street has been cordoned off, and officers are still present at the scene.

Detective Inspector Chris Carlin stated, "We are actively investigating to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident. Given that it was a busy time of the evening, I urge anyone who was in the vicinity of Lodge Lane and may have seen or heard anything to contact us."

He also called on anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to review their recordings for any relevant information, emphasising that "no detail is too small" and could assist with the investigation.
