City set to bring in more 'experimental' bus lanes

Liverpool City Council has announced plans for two new bus lanes — one on Longmoor Lane in Fazakerley and another on Upper Parliament Street in Toxteth.

The £125,000 scheme is part of the council’s ongoing effort to improve public transport, though some councillors said they were not informed in advance. Reactions among residents have been mixed: some praised the move for reducing bus delays, while others called it “an absolute joke.”

The new lanes will be introduced on an experimental basis, with no fines for non-bus vehicles during the first six months. Liverpool previously removed most of its bus lanes in 2014 but began reintroducing them in 2023.
