County Lines Drug Crackdown Results in 28 Arrests

A two-day police operation targeting county lines drug networks in Merseyside resulted in 28 arrests, according to local authorities. Officers focused on intercepting drug routes via train stations, rail networks, and roads in Sefton, aiming to dismantle the county lines operations.

During the crackdown on October 23 and 24, Merseyside Police reported rescuing 23 vulnerable children and adults, while also seizing £10,000 in cash. Key areas in Southport and Bootle were targeted in the operation.

Among those arrested, 13 individuals face charges related to possession with intent to supply and supplying Class A and B drugs. Police also seized an undisclosed amount of Class A drugs and compiled 71 new intelligence reports. Two vehicles were confiscated, and officers conducted 82 stop and searches throughout the operation.

Superintendent Paul Holden commented on the initiative: “County lines brings misery to our communities, so we are committed to identifying and arresting those responsible.” He emphasised that every intelligence report contributes to dismantling criminal networks and prosecuting gangs who exploit children, youth, and vulnerable individuals.
