Fire crews respond in Kensington after manhole cover 'blown off'

Emergency services responded to an incident in Kensington last night after a manhole cover was reportedly "blown off."

Grantham Street was cordoned off by Merseyside Police, and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service arrived at 11:30pm as a precaution.

Fire crews inspected the manhole and set up safety measures, including a hose reel jet and CO2 extinguisher. The road has since been reopened, and no significant hazards were reported. Fire crews left the scene just before 1am.
