Work on the £20 million redevelopment of Kirkby Valley, formerly Liverpool’s municipal golf course, is set to begin in spring 2025. Knowsley Council’s planning committee has approved the revised plans submitted by Green Circle Leisure, following public consultation.
The project, designed by International Design Group (IDG) and Brock Carmichael Architects, will include an upgraded 18-hole Championship course with improved greens, tees, and an updated irrigation system. It will also feature a new 9-hole par 3 Academy course for beginners, an 18-hole Adventure Golf course for families, a new clubhouse, and a two-tier driving range with golf simulators and teaching spaces.
Green Circle’s property director, Michael Hanlon, emphasised their "TOTAL GOLF" model, which aims to make golf more accessible and affordable. The development will also support community outreach, including school programs and health-focused golf initiatives.
The new clubhouse will include a golf shop, bar, restaurant, and function space, designed to blend with the natural landscape. This redevelopment aims to make Kirkby Valley one of the UK’s leading public golf destinations.
