A man has been jailed for smuggling illegal drugs into the Creamfields festival. Luke Moran, 27, from Connington Avenue, Manchester, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after pleading guilty at Chester Crown Court on Thursday, October 10. He admitted to possession with intent to supply class A drugs (cocaine), possession with intent to supply class B drugs (ketamine), and attempted possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

The court heard that in the early hours of Friday, August 26, 2022, security officers at the Gold Campsite of the Daresbury dance festival heard the sound of a nitrous oxide canister being released from a tent. When they investigated, they found Moran, another man, and two women inside, surrounded by nitrous oxide canisters, which were banned from the site. A further search of the tent uncovered three small bags containing various amounts of white powder.

The prosecution emphasized that Moran had ample opportunity to rethink his actions, with amnesty bins and surrender points available at all festival entry points. However, he chose to take the risk, which ultimately led to his arrest and conviction.

Authorities warned that those attempting to bring illegal drugs into events in Cheshire would face strict enforcement, saying, "Anyone who, like Moran, decides to risk bringing illegal drugs into Cheshire should seriously reconsider their choices, as we will always take swift and robust action, and they will face the full extent of the law."
