New Liver Bird-themed play area planned for Liverpool ONE

Plans have been unveiled for a new Liver Bird-inspired children’s play area at Liverpool ONE, with a major outdoor space at Chavasse Park set to be transformed into a family attraction.

The proposed free-to-use play area, named The Kingdom of the Liver Bird, would cover around 1,010 sq m (10,871 sq ft) and has been designed to provide an inclusive play experience for children of all ages and abilities.

The development would include a centrepiece Liver Bird Tower featuring a tube slide, alongside a zipline, trampoline zone, tunnels, climbing areas and interactive musical features.

Subject to approval, construction is expected to begin in early 2027.

The project is intended to expand family facilities in Liverpool city centre, where the only other outdoor public playground is currently located at Great Georges Square on Upper Pitt Street.

Brendan Hattam, Centre Director at Liverpool ONE, said the new attraction would help create more opportunities for families to enjoy time outdoors.

“We’re proud to be investing in new family facilities that enhance our offering here, and this play area will create a vibrant space for children of all ages to enjoy.”
