A record number of entries have been submitted for the 2024 Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards, with the ceremony set to take place in early 2025.
Organised by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and supported by the Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP), the awards celebrate excellence within the £6.25 billion tourism and hospitality sector across the region.
The shortlist has now been revealed across 19 categories, with finalists moving forward to the awards ceremony scheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Liverpool Cathedral. Fourteen of the winners will qualify for the Visit England Awards for Excellence.
This year’s categories encompass a wide range of sectors, including accommodations, attractions, food and drink venues, and new tourism businesses. Notably, new categories for 2024 include the Accessible & Inclusive Tourism Award and the International Tourism Award.
Bill Addy, chief executive of the headline sponsor Liverpool BID Company, stated, “As we prepare to come together to celebrate those in our tourism industry and visitor economy, it’s essential to recognize the significance of these businesses and events to our local economy. They not only provide jobs but also create memorable experiences, welcomes, and cultural moments."
The Hidden Gem category, sponsored by The Guide Liverpool, is also back this year and will be voted on by the public to honour the region's best-kept secret.
