Second Unexploded Bomb Discovered on Street

An unexploded bomb has been discovered at a construction site on North Atlantic Avenue in Bootle, Merseyside. This follows the discovery of another World War II bomb on the same street earlier this week.

Merseyside Police received a report of "unexploded ordnance" at approximately 11:45 BST and subsequently closed Dunnings Bridge Road in both directions between Park Lane and Boundary Road/Netherton Way. Sefton Council announced that the road will remain closed until further notice and advised motorists to seek alternative routes during the closure.

The first bomb, unearthed on Tuesday, was transported to Ainsdale Beach in Southport, where the Army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team detonated it.

Footage of the controlled explosion was captured by the news site Eye On Southport, showing the EOD team safely disposing of the device at the beach.
