Street artist Paul Curtis celebrates ‘dream come true’ as he buys first home in Liverpool
A Liverpool street artist celebrated for his striking murals across the city has described buying his first home as a “dream come true” after years of hard work.
Paul Curtis, 47, whose vivid public artworks have become a familiar sight across Merseyside, said it had taken six years to achieve his goal of home ownership.
Curtis has created nearly 300 murals in the region, portraying iconic local figures including former Liverpool FC managers Bill Shankly and Jürgen Klopp, forward Diogo Jota, and the late Hillsborough campaigner Anne Williams.
Despite his growing recognition, the artist said the journey to buying a home had not been easy.
“It’s a dream come true to own my own house back home,” he told the BBC. “I’ve wanted to get my own home on Merseyside since Covid really, but it was a lot tougher than I thought. It’s not easy when you’re self-employed, but it has finally come true.”
Curtis said his new three-bedroom home will also give him more space to store materials — and perhaps even serve as a future studio.
