Three Injured in Crash, Driver Arrested for Dangerous Driving

Three people were seriously injured in a collision on Christmas Eve in Liverpool.

Merseyside Police responded to a crash at the junction of East Lancashire Road and Stonebridge Lane in Croxteth shortly before 8:40 p.m., involving a black Ford Puma and a grey Audi A4.

The 33-year-old male driver of the Ford Puma was taken to hospital and remains in critical condition. A 34-year-old woman and a young boy were also hospitalized with serious injuries, police confirmed.

The 32-year-old driver of the Audi, a Liverpool resident, sustained minor injuries and has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy described the incident as “devastating” and urged anyone with information to come forward. “This incident has left a man with life-threatening injuries and a young boy and woman in hospital when they should have been at home enjoying Christmas Day,” he said.

Police are appealing for witnesses, CCTV, or dashcam footage from the East Lancashire Road near the M57, particularly of a dark-coloured Audi saloon seen in the area.
