In August, shipping giant MSC launched a new sea container route between Liverpool and China, providing a boost for local logistics company Publiship.

In the latest Baltic Triangle Podcast, Publiship’s James Doyle and Gerard Lyons highlighted how their company, which imports 60% of the books entering the UK, is one of Liverpool’s hidden gems. Based in the iconic Royal Liver Building, Publiship is a global leader in logistics for UK book publishers, with 13 offices worldwide.

The new MSC route, which includes stops in Rotterdam, Antwerp, and Singapore, is significant for Publiship, as it imports many books printed in southern China. Gerard explained that the direct connection to Liverpool reduces carbon emissions and improves their supply chain, particularly for deliveries to Scotland.

James added that Publiship works with all major UK publishers, with many listeners likely holding books they've imported. Founded in 1983, the company continues to make a global impact from its Liverpool base.
