One Still in Hospital After Car Ploughed Into Liverpool FC Parade Crowd
One person remains in hospital following a shocking incident during Liverpool FC’s victory parade, in which a car drove into a crowd of supporters on Water Street, Merseyside Police have confirmed.
The incident, which occurred on 26 May, left more than 100 people injured as fans gathered to celebrate. Two of those injured have since been discharged, while one individual remains under hospital care.
Paul Doyle, 53, from Croxteth Park, has been charged in connection with the event. He is facing seven charges, including wounding with intent, grievous bodily harm with intent, attempted GBH with intent, and dangerous driving. He is due to appear in court again on 14 August.
In total, 109 people were injured in the crash, with the youngest victim just nine years old.
Speaking at a police scrutiny meeting, Chief Constable Serena Kennedy said the force is pursuing 113 recorded crimes linked to the incident. Officers are conducting interviews with numerous witnesses and examining extensive CCTV and social media footage submitted by the public.
The investigation is ongoing as police work to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the crash.
