Online Platform Set to Increase Care Workers' Wages

A new online platform is set to empower self-employed care workers by giving them more control over their pay and work schedules.

Typically, self-employed caregivers must depend on agencies that take a percentage of their earnings and limit their shift options. However, Bootle-based The Progress Group (TPG) aims to change this with its new digital platform, Click Shifts, under the Flourish brand.

Click Shifts connects care clients with local, experienced, and vetted caregivers who can fill shifts on short notice, reducing reliance on agencies and their associated fees. Importantly, Click Shifts does not take a cut from caregivers' earnings, allowing them to receive their full pay.

Caregivers can set their availability for shifts, ranging from a minimum of three hours to a maximum of 12 hours daily. The platform also includes a rating system for both caregivers and clients, promoting transparency and accountability.

Jayne Worthington, TPG's chief executive, stated, “The launch of Click Shifts comes at a critical time. With 44% of the UK’s 5 million unpaid working-age carers living in poverty and 152,000 care worker vacancies in England, there is an urgent need for change.

“Flourish addresses this by offering Click Shifts, allowing self-employed carers to work on their own terms, set their pay rates, availability, and preferred locations. Unlike other platforms, we ensure that carers receive 100% of their pre-tax earnings without any commission deducted, empowering them to take control of their work and financial stability.”

To register with Click Shifts, caregivers must have a cleared DBS check, current training certificates, and provide two references, ensuring that only qualified and reliable professionals are part of the network.
